Weaving, Trying to Make Sense of my Time at the Bottom of this Planet, Occasionally Tending our Sisyphaen Patch
by the Goddess of Procrastination and Expert Forgetter
My parents got connected to the Internet for the first time in their lives about 5 minutes ago. It's a start of an era for them. And Mom might be dropping by from time to time, so I must shape up and be good. Or not!
My mother is 85 and emails me every day. That's how I stay in touch with her. We call too, but this is easy. With the time difference, etc it's so good! She lives in Saskatchewan and I'm in Tennessee! I think you're going to like that connection. Carol
Carol, I'm just hoping they'll like it as much as I do, since I've been offering to buy them a laptop and teach them how to use it for... oh... 12 years?
Deep End, no, I'm always their "troubled, enigma daughter"..,
Mom doens't go on the web like she did about 6 years ago, but she took a class about then in adult education. She learnt that if it messed up, you just turn it off and reboot it so she's not scared of it. It's so wonderful to be able to know each day that she's ok even if I don't talk to her. I think you'll find that connection when you live far away is just so important. Carol
Yes, Carol, and without Dad hanging over her saying, "you've been on the phone for N minutes now!" Though for a while I take it Dad will hog the machine. That's OK, it gives Mom to play on the loom.
