Do You Have a Wish List?

I had an email waiting for me this morning from the same Liz I mentioned yesterday. It was one of those lists with silly, everyday questions that I love to receive from Liz, because it makes me feel as if I still know her. I lived with her family during our senior year in high school, and now she's a mother of three, and a manager of a big IT team, so there is no way I know most of what's going on in her life now, but still, I learned that today her favorite color is yellow.

One of the questions this morning, "Name something in your wish list."

This evening I was gazing at the telly, and there was a shampoo commercial. I wasn't paying much attention, but across the screen I read two lines: "Make a wish list. Not just a To Do list."

At any time I have between two and half a dozen To Do lists. I had a small list of things I wanted, but finances being tight, I deleted it late last year.

But a wish list? I don't even know how to go about writing one. It sounds nice, though, doesn't it? I think I'd like to be the kind of person who has a wish list.

I'll have to think about this one.

Ok, here is your number one entry.
"Have a wish list"
It's always nice to have one, even if you can not get one of the item in the list right now.

You did have items like "Solo exhibition", "Sale item at Red" which all came true. Those are not To Do list items, but should be in a wish list, Meg.

Well, you have to do something to make a wish true...

Well...there's your first wish:
"I'd like to be the kind of person who has a wish list"!

Funny how these things work....like the synchronicity that Julia Cameron talks about.

And though Ben says you have to do something to make a wish true...the first step is just giving the wish a voice.

Golly gee, Ben, you're right. I did use to have a mental wish list, didn't I? I worked through them with breakneck speed that I'd forgotten all about them. So now, of course, I do have wishes, and we talked about one of them recently, didn't we? Thanks for reminding me. I'm better at working towards some wishes, than just wishing, perhaps?

Valerie, exactly, and voila, I got my first wish to go on my wish list, so that's two down overnight thanks to the two of you. Boy, I work fast when I'm working fast.

Yes, synchronicity. It's one of her favorites, isn't it. I'm such a fatalist that I don't of it often, and I have a hard time thinking of examples when JC asks, but you're right. The other one yesterday Joseph Campbell - I just heard someone mention him on the radio on Wednesday afternoon, and then in the signature lines of Liz's email had a quote by him.

So, fate or synchronicity, I have to be more alert to them and act on them, or at least remember them.

Sensational. What a great way to start the day when I endeavor to throw myself off yet another deep end in an hour and a half.
